Salt-N-Pepa is a musical group hailing from Queens, New York. The group was formed in 1985 and was one of the first all female rap groups. The group consists of Cheryl James, also known as “Salt”, Sandra Denton, also known as “Pepa” and Latoya Hanson who was soon replaced by Deidra Roper. Since the group formed, they have won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group, the MTV Music Award for Best Choreography, the MTV Video Music Award for Best Electronic Dance Music Video, the MTV Video Music Award for Best R&B Video and the BET I Am Hip-Hop Icon Award. You will probably easily recognize their biggest hit entitled, “Push It”, which was released in 1986. However, the group also has a number of other hits such “Whatta Man”, “Shoop”, “Let’s Talk About Sex”, “I’ll Take Your Man”, “Do You Want Me” and “Gitty U”, just to name a few.
