Main Street Theatre Works in Jackson is known for its fantastic theatrical presentations. This season, they have a brand new hilarious show that they cannot wait to show the public that will take place at the Kennedy Mine Amphitheatre. The play is, Chemical Imbalance: A Jekyll and Hyde Play, a brand new hilarious take on this classic horror story. You have never seen Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde like this ever before! The play runs from June 19th through July 18th.  If you’re staying in the Jackson area then don’t miss this classic play.

In this new telling of the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde story, you will be sure to laugh all night long. Like the original story, the play will take place in Victorian-Era England, except there will be a few changes. Instead of the macabre story of a mad scientist who changes personality, we’ll get a dark comedy and even a steampunk vibe thrown in the mix. Steampunk is an offshoot of traditional Victorian era stories. While it is still set during this time period, a little more industrial technology is added into the mix. As the story goes, Jekyll has little social skills and his family has desperately been trying to match him with a wife. Now, a rich and beautiful woman is their latest plot. When he tries out his magic potion to get another personality, he ends up with Mr. Hyde, a crazed murderer. However, even Mr. Hyde isn’t all that, as his murderous plots all end up hilariously failing.

Chemical Imbalance: A Jekyll and Hyde Play will be performed on Fridays and Saturdays from June 19th through July 18th. General admission to the show is $17.50 and will be $12 if you have a student ID. Those 18 and under also get in for $12. A family of four (2 general admission and two student priced ticketed) can receive a family package for $49. Gates open at 6:30 for picnicking and the show starts at 8pm. Enjoy this hilarious show!
