Day Trip to Sacramento

While Jackson City offers a rich history for guests and locals to explore, its location also provides a great opportunity for day trips and opportunities to see what else California has to offer. After just about a one hour drive, you’ll find yourself in the state of capitol of California – Sacramento. Be sure to check these things off your bucket list when you partake in a day trip to Sacramento.

With a trip to the Capitol, you’ll of course want to make time to explore Capitol Park. The park is a friendly and safe area to walk around and enjoy the views of the Capitol Building. Additionally, you’ll want to head inside the building as a tour of the Capitol building is FREE. Inside, you’ll learn about the interesting history of the area, the building and of California. If you go during the spring, you’ll be greeted by a vast array of blooming trees and colorful flowers. Additionally, a stop at the arboretum located on the grounds of the park is a great way to spend a relaxing time during your trip.

If you’re looking for a quick stop to enjoy some libations, head to Dive Bar, located at 1016 K Street. This popular, casual lounge is known for their themed water tanks located above the bar where women in mermaid costumes swim during designated times. Serving up cold brews on tap and cocktails, the Dive Bar is a fun location to grab a drink. Plus, don’t miss out on the chance to see mermaids!

The Leland Stanford Mansion State Historic Park is located just two blocks away from the Capitol building. This historic park is the location of the Stanford Mansion, once owned by former Governor of California, Leland Stanford, from 1862 to 1863. Stanford was also a US Senator, a railroad tycoon and was the founder of Stanford University. Stop by for a tour of the park and walk through the home as you see a stunning example of Victorian era architecture. Additionally, you’ll learn more about the history of Leland Stanford and his impact on California.
